“Only Have Eyes For You” Painting Part 1

January 24, 2012 § Leave a Comment

I started painting and wanted to show the difference between the flat color and shadows/highlights between the two faces that I have so far. Makes a big difference, right? I’m liking how this is turning out so far.

“Only Have Eyes For You” Sketch

January 22, 2012 § Leave a Comment

I started this sketch today for a Valentine’s Day show I’ll be participating in next month. They wanted sensual, so I might need to do something else. But as of now, I’ve never tried something so symmetrical before and think it’s kinda cool. It was definitely fun to draw.

Here’s the main line work. More details and of course color will be added later. Hopefully I can get an update posted later today on it’s progress.

“Still Alive” Finished Painting (Angel Sketch Part 4)

January 9, 2012 § Leave a Comment

Sorry it’s been such a long hiatus again. Seems to happen right before shows.

I’m leaving for the Surf Expo tomorrow night for five days in Orlando. It’s been a rush to get this painting done. Can’t say I’m very happy with it tho. It’s not bad, just not what I had in my mind. It ended up too dark with all the black outlining. Oh well. At least it was a feat getting something this big done (30×40 inches)! Definitely learned a lesson. I am NOT patient enough for these sized paintings haha. At least not as detailed line-work oriented as this one was for the size.

The major inspiration for this work (mostly giving me inspiration to actually sit long enough to work on it! haha) was this song. It makes me feel like flying (hence the angel and butterflies theme). Must have listened to it at least 3 or 400 times. 0_0

It’s been a while since I did an acoustic cover. This is my rendition of “Riverside” by the great Agnes Obel (I love her so muuuuuuch). Hope you like.

Piano Restoration & Painting Part 3

It’s done! This thing took way longer than I expected it to. Guess it’s weird switching from flat surfaces to three dimensional stuff. But I think it looks great. Went with a pure black body with satin varnish to make it sort of shiny. It looks like a tiny grand piano! ^_^

Surf Expo

December 13, 2011 § 2 Comments

I’m going to Orlando, baby! I got an email from a gallery owner here in Atlanta who is also the president of the Surf Expo (January 12-14, 2012). It’s a trade show for companies to show off their newest products and sell them to retailers. I’m one of six artists who were offered free booths (over $4,000 value…wowza).

This is very exciting. Big brands will be there including giants like Vans, Volcom, DC Shoes, and Quiksilver. Last year the president said one of the artists got six deals with companies to make art for them. I’m hoping something similar will happen this year. Even if it doesn’t, this is still a huge deal getting my name and brand out there.

Piano Restoration & Painting Part 2

December 12, 2011 § 4 Comments

Sorry I’ve been gone for a few days. This was my birthday week. The big quarter-century mark. Gettin old. *sigh* So in my old-ness, I slept. A lot.

But I’m back, refreshed (hopefully). I redid the painting of the piano top so it’s more my style. More candy-ish and in a pretty rainbow gradient. :D

It’s not done, but it’s getting there! And soon! I could probably finish it tonight if I tried, but I’m making no promises. Good pics’ll be up very soon because this is going to show and I possibly might not get it back.
